Winter and Summer Holidays in Les Arcs
The Freshbreakz FAQ:
People who are interested in this holiday always ask us the same questions, so we thought that we should list the questions showing our answers. Hopefully this should cover most of your questions, if not feel free to e-mail or call one of our customer service people. If you have any questions you would like answered in the FAQ please email me or use the Contact us form.
Q: As the chalet is 5 min from drive Bourg St Maurice and not actually in Les Arcs resort, how do we get to the slopes in the morning and get back in the evening?
A: We have a Dodge day van which we use to take our guests to and from the Funicular in the morning. The evening before everyone decides what time they want to go in the morning. If you want to have a lie in, the 2nd chalet host will be at the chalet cleaning and will be able to take you when they go a little later. In the evening there will be a collection at 5.30-6.00 at the funicular. We will meet in a bar in Les arcs 1600 at the end of the day until everyone is there then we will take the funicular train down to the van. If you wish to stay in Les Arcs having a few drinks and get the last funicular down (19.30) then there is not problem. If one of the reps are available they can collect you if convenient or you can jump in a taxi.
Q: What resort will I get to board in?
A: The local resort is Les Arcs and this will be the main place to go. However, if you wish to go to Tignes or Val D'isere they are only 20 min drive up the road so if a few of you wish to go then there is no problem and we will decide the evening before. This means that you can always board or ski in the best resort that day has to offer.
Q: What if we want to organise our own evening out
A: This is not a problem. If you need to get into town, you can either ask one of the Chalet hosts if they would be able to run you into town (at a small fee). If it is at an inconvenient time for them (cooking etc) then they will organise for a taxi to collect you. They will do their best to run you into town, but please they are doing this in their own time and with their own petrol so please do not abuse this or give them a good tip at the end of your stay.
Q: What is the snow like in Les Arcs?
A: Les Arcs always gets good snow. It has some of the best snow in France. Even at the end of the season there is snow all the way down to Vallandry. Usually there is a last snowfall in April, which keeps the snow level good. Also Les Arcs seems to get the best of the weather with plenty of sun and blue skies.
Q: Are we expected to leave a tip for the Chalet hosts?
A: It is customary if the service has been good and the hosts have been friendly to leave a tip. How much you leave is down to you.
Q: Can we have friends to stay?
A: We do not have a problem if you have 1 or 2 friends coming to visit. They will have to sleep in your room and they will have to pay £20 per night they stay. This does not include any food. They can only stay for 2 a maximum of nights. If you would like your friend(s) to stay longer than 2 nights please let us know and we will discuss if there is room or not. If there is then it will not be a problem.
Q: Is there a limit to the size of my party?
A: The chalet can sleep up to 12 guests in beds. There is plenty of space to sleep more guests, depending on how well you know each other. If you have a party larger then 12, if you let us know we can arrange to have spare beds brought in. The more warning you can give us the better. You will have to be patient in the morning because we will have to do 2 trips in the van to take more than 10 people to the resort.
Q: If we have a special event to celebrate such as a birthday, Christmas or New Year what can you do to help us make it a special occasion?
A: For Christmas and New Year we will already be making this very special as we take these days seriously. We will decorate the Chalet. We will be cooking a traditional Christmas feast with plenty of wine and Champagne. There will be organised games for those of you who wish to take part. There will be a little present for each guest under the tree. For New Year there will be lots of food, lots of wine. We really want to make it a special event. If you wish to go into Bourg St Maurice for midnight we can arrange for some taxis to come and pick you up. If you have any ideas you would like to put forward to us let us know, as we want this to be a special occasion. Tell us if one of your party is having a birthday and we can arrange to bake them a cake.
Q: Do you cater for vegetarians or any food allergies?
A: Yes we do. Simply let us know on the booking form or call us and we will ensure that the hosts take this into consideration when cooking the food.
Q: What do I get for my money?
A: We will collect you and drop you off at Bourg St Maurice train and coach station. You will be staying in a luxury traditional alpine Chalet, very spacious, board and boot room, fantastic views, TV, DVD, stereo, a lift pass if required. We will take you to and from the funicular so you will not have to walk. You will have a continental breakfast prepared for you every morning, we will prepare a pack lunch if required, there will be tea and snacks from when you return from the slopes and we will cook a hearty dinner from our experienced chef with unlimited wine. The Chalet will be looked after by our 2 hosts so you will not have to do any cleaning. We will provide the sheets so you will not have to bring your own. We will organise your lift pass ahead of time if you send us your passport size photo(s).
Q: When is the earliest I can arrive on Saturday?
A: You can arrive anytime after 7am, however you will not be able to get into your rooms until 12pm as the other guest will still be there. If you want to go skiing or boarding then you can change in the chalet in our spare room down stairs and leave your bags safe there, Then we can take you to the funicular so you can enjoy your 1st day on the slopes. This will give you an extra day or half day. Please let us know if you wish us to organise your lift pass accordingly.
Q: Can I ski/snowboard on the last Saturday?
A: You will have to leave your rooms by 9am, but if you wish to ski on the Saturday then you can leave your bags at the train station which is next to the funicular.
Q: Can I smoke inside the chalet?
A: Smoking is not permitted inside the Chalet for the sake of the other guests and that the Chalet had a lot of wooden parts to it. You are welcome to smoke anywhere outside.
All in all we have designed this with you in mind as we want you to have the best break!
